Gillibrand Statement on UN Investigator's Call for Boycott of Companies in Israel Settlements

Statement

Issues: Foreign Affairs

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) released the following statement after UN Special Rapporteur Richard Falk issued a report calling for a boycott of companies tied to Israel's settlements in the Palestinian territories:

"It is shameful that the UN Human Rights Council continued its anti-Israel rhetoric yesterday by calling for a boycott of private U.S. and international companies. It is not only divisive, but irresponsible. The report by Richard Falk, the Rapporteur for the Council, who has a history of offensive statements concerning Israel and even 9/11, does a grave disservice to all those striving for peace. There is no place at the UN for someone with Mr. Falk's biased record, and his mandate should be revoked. Although his mandate comes from the UN Human Rights Council, he has discredited the full UN institution."
