Issue Position: Environment and Natural Resources

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

Our state is rich in natural beauty and natural resources. My time working in the Yellowstone area made me realize that this state has a lot to offer when it comes to our environment. Many of us live here for this environment. We felt strongly enough about it that the Montana Constitution offers a guarantee of a clean environment. Keeping this in mind we should not rush to develop our resources without insuring that we won't be taken advantage of by out of state corporations. We've been down that road before. As a legislator, I want to insure that corporations that profit from this state's resources are held accountable for their actions. I want our state to be treated like a partner, not a piggy bank. Above all, I want to make sure that Montana remains the last best place for hunting, fishing and hiking for future generations.
