Realign government employee benefits and compensation with the private sector. Most public employees in Iowa pay nothing for their health care. Healthcare costs continue to spiral out of control and it's time to ring government employee benefits in line with the private sector and ask them to pay their fair share.

Meaningful education reform-It's for our children and future generations. We need to return the control of education to our school districts. This means restructuring resources away from costly and ineffective administrative and Area Education Agency (AEA) functions, and putting them back into classrooms.

Property tax reform to encourage growth and jobs. Iowa's business property taxes are the highest in the nation -- this must change so we have a competitive environment to keep existing jobs and add new jobs.

Allow Iowa's 99 county governments more flexibility for shared and collaborative operations and services. Whether it's management of road construction or county auditor functions, we can modernize and eliminate wasteful duplication and promote efficiency, reduce costs and provide real property tax relief. It probably ade sense 150 years ago but it just doesn't work for us anymore.
