Education reform will be a big issue in the upcoming legislative session. As an educator and a city councilman I see clearly the connection between an effective education system and our state's prosperity. In my opinion education is the strongest economic development plan the state can have and must start at an early age. Therefore, I strongly support Pre-K education for all of Iowa's children -- adequate funding for K-12 -- a strong commitment to the engines of economic development, our community colleges, and a recommitment to making our state universities affordable for all Iowans. I look forward to engaging in a discussion with the governor, legislators, citizens and educators about improving Iowa education.
