Kline Statement on September Jobs Report

Statement

Date: Oct. 5, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released employment data for September:

Creating 104,000 private sector jobs is certainly welcome news, but more than three years into the so-called "recovery,' these modest gains are simply not enough. Millions of families across the country still face serious hardships. Gas prices are up, economic growth is down, and wages are flat. These and others indicators prove the president's policies have buried the middle-class and demonstrate the need for a new direction.

We know how to return to a thriving economy: provide tax relief for small business owners and middle-class families, regulatory certainty for job-creators, and fiscal discipline on behalf of taxpayers. House Republicans have advanced dozens of proposals that help address these pressing national priorities. All that's missing is a president who will set aside his failed policies and work across the aisle on the pro-growth agenda the American people deserve.
