House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon issued the following statement upon passage of the National Security and Jobs Protection Act of 2012 by the House of Representatives:

"The passage of this bill marks the fifth time this year the House of Representatives has voted to resolve sequestration. I commend Congressman Allen West for bringing this bill to the floor.

"It is my sincere hope that this most recent action by the House will compel the President to finally do his part to end the sequestration crisis and bring his party in the Senate to a conference committee.

"The President claims he wants to avert these devastating cuts to our national defense. Now is the time for him to set aside ideology and election-year politics and do right by our men and women in uniform."
