Issue Position

Massachusetts students lead not only the country but also the world in academic achievement. However, this does not mean that Massachusetts can afford to rest on its laurels. We must continue to lead. It is important to the future of our communities, and it is critically important to me as the father of two young boys in the Melrose Public Schools.

We know what works in education -- early childhood education so that our kids arrive at kindergarten ready to learn; a comprehensive curriculum that supports traditional academic subjects as well as health, art, music, and vocational studies; exceptional professionals committed to our students; and strong public colleges and universities preparing students for the challenges of tomorrow's economy. Every student in Massachusetts deserves the opportunities that education brings, and our schools must always be up to the challenge.
