Farm Bill

Statement

Date: Sept. 14, 2012

Yesterday I joined a bipartisan group of House members in signing a discharge petition to try to force a vote on the Farm Bill. If we can get 218 signatures on the petition, House leaders would be forced to allow a floor vote on the Farm Bill that passed the House Agriculture Committee on a bipartisan 35-11 vote. In August I traveled throughout the First District listening to the challenges farm families are facing. Passing a five year Farm Bill that protects Arkansas producers is my top priority. Our farmers deserve the certainty that a full five year farm bill would provide. We should not allow election year politics to get in the way of passing sound agriculture policy.
