At Congressman Garamendi's Manufacturing Forum, Dozens of Manufacturers Discuss Best Practices to Grow Businesses

Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA), former Chair of the California Commission for Economic Development, hosted a Manufacturing Forum on Monday at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. The event featured a number of the region's business leaders who shared essential manufacturing resources available to help increase profitability and productivity and grow regional business.

The audience joined in two lively panel discussions on financing manufacturing and on strategies to improve sustainability and the supply chain, and on ways to gain access to publicly researched technology.

"By assembling regional leaders interested in growing our manufacturing sector, we've assembled a brain trust ready to Make It In America and create good jobs," Congressman Garamendi said. "This is patriotic capitalism at work: building the middle class, growing our economy, and keeping America competitive as a global leader."

"I've introduced two Make It In America bills that leverage our taxpayer dollars to create American jobs in transportation and clean energy manufacturing. I'm proud of my Make It In America bills, but the task before is requires more than legislation," Garamendi added. "As this region's representative in Congress, I stand with the businesses who stand with American workers and who want to see America prosper."

Garamendi's Make It In America bills, H.R. 6216, the Make It In America, Create Transportation Manufacturing Jobs in America Act, and H.R. 6217, the Make It In America, Create Clean Energy Manufacturing Jobs Act, would raise the federal minimum of 66 percent American content to 85 percent, phased over three years. This level is in line with feasible bids received for new rail cars at Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Agency (LAMTA), and Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT).
