According to the Kansas Labor Information Center, 5.6% of Overland Park residents were unemployed in February 2012. Legislators have focused on corporate tax breaks instead of proven job-creating programs. Legislators must:
*Invest in infrastructure programs such as TWORKS;
*Continue to support economic development programs like PEAK & STAR Bonds;
*Fund programs that encourage small business growth, recruitment of new high-tech jobs and assistance of existing industries; and,
*Support private/public partnerships that encourage the growth of alternative energy companies in Kansas.
