Nunnelee Newsletter: 2012 Jobs and Economy Tour

Statement

Date: Aug. 30, 2012

Dear Friends,

This August I have focused on visiting as many businesses as possible. Seeing their operations and hearing firsthand from small business owners and their employees is invaluable. I do not believe the founding fathers intended the people's elected representatives to be locked up in a marble building in Washington all year. I believe that I should be at home as much as possible, visiting with my friends and fellow Mississippians about what we can do to get the economy back on the right track.

What I heard everywhere I went was Washington is standing in the way of economic growth. Overregulation, the President's health care law, and the threat of higher taxes are all killing jobs. House Republicans have passed over 30 jobs bills that the Democrat-controlled Senate has failed to pass. Nevertheless, we have and will continue to pass legislation that focuses on cutting spending, reforming the tax code, and getting rid of excessive, senseless regulation.

I appreciate everybody that hosted me at their businesses and allowed me the opportunity to listen, learn and become a better Congressman thanks to their input.

Stay in touch and God bless,

Patrick Nunnelee
