Congresswoman Judy Biggert Voted Against Help for Manufacturing Workers Who Lost Jobs Due to Her Bad Trade Votes

Throughout her 13 years in Congress, Congresswoman Biggert consistently voted for policies that damaged U.S. manufacturing. She voted for tax policies that encouraged shipping American jobs overseas. She voted to give China virtually unlimited access to U.S. markets without any enforceable agreement that they stop currency manipulation, forced technology transfer, patent theft, forced Chinese-majority partnerships, or illegal loan subsidies. As a result, one third of all U.S. manufacturing jobs were lost following Congresswoman Biggert's votes for these bad policies. Even worse, she then voted against legislation to aid workers who were laid off as a result of these bad trade deals.

Flashback 2007: In 2007, Congresswoman Biggert voted against reauthorization of Trade Adjustment Assistance programs for workers laid off due to the impact of foreign trade.

"The best way to get our economy back on track is to invest in manufacturing jobs," said Bill Foster. "Congresswoman Biggert spent 13 years in Congress voting for bad trade and tax policies that shipped American jobs overseas and devastated American manufacturing, then voted against assistance programs for workers who lost their jobs as a result of her bad votes. As a businessman, I understand the challenges that businesses face, and will always put the interests of American manufacturers and workers before the profits of transnational corporations that ship jobs overseas.
