The Kirkpatrick-Obama Record: $16 Trillion in Debt

Press Release

Date: Sept. 4, 2012

America hit an unfortunate milestone today: We now have $16 trillion in debt.

And because policies approved by President Obama and Ann Kirkpatrick continue today unfettered, our national debt will only grow, Congressional District 1 candidate Jonathan Paton said.

"I am running for Congress to put an end to the blank check spending of President Obama and Ann Kirkpatrick and to restore fiscal sanity in Washington," Paton said. "Between Obamacare and the failed stimulus, each approved with the full support and vote of Ann Kirkpatrick, our national debt has ballooned and threatens our economic security."

Kirkpatrick voted for both the nearly trillion-dollar stimulus plan and Obamacare in her brief tenure in Congress. Voters then rejected her reelection bid largely because of those votes. Kirkpatrick refuses to reexamine her past votes and has said during her campaign that she would not second guess Obama.

"Arizonans need a representative who will put their values first -- not their political party bosses in Washington, D.C.," Paton said. "Arizona families, burdened with this ever rising debt, deserve nothing less."
