Dr. Benishek Continues 'House Calls with Dr. Dan' Tour of Northern Michigan

Dr. Dan Benishek continued his "House calls with Dr. Dan," tour today, on which he is traveling throughout Northern Michigan hosting town hall meetings, visiting with veterans and seniors, and touring small businesses and farms. Today, Dr. Dan visited the Manistee County Fair, Manistee County Commissioners Meeting and hosted a tele-town hall for Northern Michigan's seniors.

"Agriculture is a major component of Northern Michigan's economy. County fairs like the one in here in Manistee are a great source of pride for Northern Michigan," said Dr. Dan. "The number one issue in Northern Michigan is jobs and our agriculture producers, like many of Northern Michigan's small businesses, are struggling under the federal government. Farmers across the district have been telling me how the uncertain tax code, the over zealous regulators and the cost increasing healthcare law are all hampering their business. Fixing these problems is simple, yet the career politicians in Washington are not taking the fight for economy seriously enough. My goal is to change that."

After the fair and the Manistee County Commissioners Meeting, Dr. Dan took the time to hear about issues that matter to seniors during his tele-town hall.

"The most important part of my job is listening to the people of Northern Michigan to know where they stand on the issues being debated in Congress. This afternoon was a great opportunity to take the pulse of the district and hear directly from the voters," continued Dr. Dan. "Whether it was touring 100 businesses this summer or holding these town halls, I've greatly appreciated the input of small business owners, seniors and all Northern Michiganders on the issues mattering most to them."
