Mike Obermueller Statement on Pick of Paul Ryan as Republican VP Nominee

Statement

Second district Congressional candidate Mike Obermueller released the following statement on the selection of Paul Ryan as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee:

"This selection puts onto the national stage a budget with dangerous priorities, which Congressman Kline supported. The budget ends Medicare as we know it, forcing seniors to pay an average of $6,400 per year more, shifts the tax burden onto the middle class and, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, explodes the deficit by $8 trillion. We have got to get our spending under control but these Congressman Kline-supported priorities are completely out of whack."

Mike Obermueller is a former state legislator who represented the seat once held by Tim Pawlenty. He grew up working on his parents' small dairy farm, and worked to put himself through college and law school. Mike lives in Eagan with his wife Sara, and their two teenage sons and works as a business litigation attorney at the firm of Winthrop and Weinstine. He volunteers at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church, as a youth basketball coach and is an active member of the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
