Rehberg Votes for Disaster Assistance, Urges House to Stay in Session for Farm Bill

Statement

Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today voted for H.R. 6233 the Supplemental Agricultural Disaster Assistance Act, which reauthorizes disaster assistance programs that expired at the end of the 2011 fiscal year. This legislation is an important source of relief for Montana's top industry. Rehberg also took the opportunity to urge House Leaders to stay in session until the House takes action on the Farm Bill, which is set to expire on October 1. Last month, he sent a letter to House leaders urging rapid action on the Farm Bill.

"I'm glad the House was able to take this important step on something that's so important to our producers in Montana. Unfortunately, there's still work to do, and Montana's farmers are counting on us to do the right thing. That's why I'm asking the House to stay in session until we've passed a Farm Bill that provides a critical safety net for Montana's farming and ranching families and a level of certainty for all the small businesses that depend on our state's agricultural industry. I'm ready and willing to come back to Washington, D.C. at any point to get this important work done."
