Congressman Ruben Hinojosa Federal Grant Awarded to San Juan Police Department

Press Release

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced a grant for $13,548 was awarded to the San Juan Police Department by the U.S. Department of Justice through its Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG).

"I want to congratulate everyone with the City of San Juan who worked hard to make sure the San Juan Police Department would receive this important federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. "These days federal grant awards do not come easy, however we have already seen that several police departments in the 15th Congressional District of Texas have been awarded grants that will go a long way to help law enforcement initiatives in our communities. This shows a true commitment from local leaders who want the best for their residents."

The JAG award will be used to purchase communication equipment for the San Juan Police Department which includes a digital base radio and portable radios for police officers.

JAG funds allow states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions.
