Issue Position: Caring for Our Seniors - Our Rightful Responsibility

Issue Position

Minnesotans rightfully take pride in the ways we care for our families as we enter different phases of our lives. But one of the most personal issues for me is how we provide care for our seniors. Our state is facing a "silver tsunami" as our demographics show the state aging at a rapid pace in the next twenty to thirty years. Our current assisted-care infrastructure will not be able to absorb this, and as your legislator I will examine every possible idea to keep our seniors in their homes for as long as possible, and to allow all of us to age with the dignity that Minnesotans deserve. I will explore alternative home-health cooperatives for rural communities that could provide care for seniors may need light assistance but still desire to live at home. I strongly believe that with innovative and unconventional ideas and solutions, we can ensure that our seniors have the resources they need to lead the lives they deserve.
