Sen. Carper Votes to Protect and Encourage American Job Creation

Statement

Today Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) voted in support of the S. 3364, the Bring Jobs Home Act. The Senate failed to take up the measure, 56-44. His statement follows:

"One of the primary roles of government is to create and maintain a nurturing environment for job creation and job preservation," said Sen. Carper. "Unfortunately, many of our current tax policies are misaligned and reward companies that ship American jobs overseas. It doesn't make much sense to me, or to many others, that as thousands of Delawareans and millions of Americans remain out of work, their hard-earned taxpayer dollars are being used to subsidize companies that send jobs to countries other than our own. Instead, we should be encouraging companies to bring jobs back to America's soil -- and keep them here. I am disappointed that my colleagues could not come together to move this important legislation forward. The American workforce is the backbone of our economy and it's important that we support and nurture policies like the Bring Jobs Home Act that protect jobs here at home. The American people expect us to work together to help put Americans back to work. It's time for Congress to come together and do just that."
