Issues: Veterans

Montana's U.S. Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester today announced help is on the way for homeless Montana veterans and their families. Baucus and Tester announced a $365,000 grant to provide supportive services to low-income veteran families that are either homeless, on the verge of homelessness, or looking to transition from a shelter into permanent housing. Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will use the grant to help approximately 75 households across central and eastern Montana.

"Our veterans have offered to put their lives on the line for our country and it is simply unacceptable that they should return from duty without a roof over their heads," said Baucus. "This grant is a step in the right direction and an important opportunity to do right by our troops."

"Veterans make tremendous sacrifices for our country and as Montana's only member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee I won't rest until every one of them is back on their feet," Tester said. "This assistance will help more veterans and their families get the help they need and that's a responsible policy that I will support every time."
