Vitter Announces VA Outpatient Clinics Get Green Light for Contracts

U.S. Senator David Vitter today announced that the Solicitation for Offers (SFOs) for both the Lafayette and Lake Charles community based outpatient clinics for veterans have been scheduled to go out ahead of schedule. The news came during a conference call arranged by Vitter with the Louisiana congressional delegation and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

"This whole process was put on hold when the VA made a bureaucratic error causing it to restart from step one, but with our consistent urging they are moving forward," Vitter said. "VA officials have assured me that the continued roll out of services and expediting of the construction of these clinics has their "full and undivided attention' and I am committed to holding them accountable to Louisiana's veterans. While this progress is a step in the right direction, I will continue pushing to keep the process on an accelerated track and get our Veterans the modern healthcare facilities they deserve."

After the VA's errors were detected, Vitter and the delegation urged them to immediately provide temporary facilities for the veterans in the area. Vitter has constantly been pushing top VA officials to maximize the current amount of services being made available in those facilities and to take full advantage of the property that the City of Lafayette has offered to donate.
