As a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Georgia Law School, Doug knows full well the importance of education to the state of Georgia. A strong education system creates jobs and economic prosperity. Doug believes that real education happens in the classroom, not in a meeting of bureaucrats. Doug will work to continue to ensure that teachers are given the tools they need and as Doug is a proponent of public school choice, he will work to see that our local schools and parents maintain the control that is rightfully theirs.

At the higher education level, many changes have been made to the HOPE Scholarship that had a direct impact on the people of the 117th. The solution proposed by Governor Deal and passed by the House preserved HOPE for future generations. Doug had the courage to support this solution and protect the cherished scholarship.
