Congressman Ruben Hinojosa Announces Federal Grant for the City of McAllen's Police Department

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the City of McAllen a law enforcement grant for $25,924 through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.

"I want to congratulate the leaders of McAllen and everyone who worked so diligently towards acquiring this important grant from the U.S. Department of Justice," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. "These funds will go far in supporting the initiatives in law enforcement at the McAllen Police Department under the direction of Chief Victor Rodriguez."

From McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez:

"The McAllen Police Department expresses its appreciation to Congressman Hinojosa for his efforts in assisting us in securing this grant. These collaborative efforts ensure that or communities are at the forefront of funding efforts which contribute greatly in keeping our communities safe."

Chief Rodriguez added that the JAG funds will be used to purchase law enforcement equipment for the McAllen Police Department.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions.
