Issue Position: Smart Development

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

This year, many of our current legislators voted to reduce public input on new construction projects and increase development. While new developments can be important, community-enhancing endeavors, I believe it is vital that we protect the community's right to weigh-in on major projects in our area. Eliminating public hearings and other "checks" on development could lead to traffic and safety problems in our community. Smart development that benefits the community and reduces traffic congestion is important, but it can't be done properly without community dialogue.
