Today, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard applauded the awarding of more than $6.4 million to the City of Los Angeles through the Department of Justice's COPS Hiring Program (CHP) to create and/or preserve law enforcement jobs. CHP provides funding to address the full-time sworn officer needs of state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies nationwide.

"This is great news for the City of Los Angeles," said Congresswoman Roybal-Allard. "Creating and preserving jobs needs to continue to be at the top of our agenda. Most importantly, when we invest in our law enforcement, we invest in safety and security for our communities," Roybal-Allard added.

CHP grants go directly to law enforcement agencies to hire new and/or rehire career law enforcement officers in an effort to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts.
