Peggy has consistently fought for adequate funding of Kansas schools and strong local control. Peggy has voted to increase the base state aid every year she has been in the Legislature.
In 2003, in the height of the recession when funds were low and a tax increase seemed imminent to fund Kansas schools, Peggy proposed legislation that would have increased school funding by $155 million, BUT require that 80% of that money go to classroom resources, such as tools and textbooks, teacher pay, or teacher insurance costs. Peggy ensures that you get the most for your tax dollars.
Peggy's own children are a testament to her commitment to education, with three
of her children holding bachelors degree's.
