Issue Position: Government Spending

Issue Position

Federal government spending is completely out of control. In 2009, Congress voted to increase the national debt by over $5 trillion over the next five years. Tim Walberg believes government must live within its means and believes politicians need to stop digging our nation deeper into debt. Tim has received the "Taxpayers Hero" Award from Citizens Against Government Waste, and has worked diligently with his House colleagues to stop mortgaging America's future through unsustainable spending.

Tim has a long history of defending Social Security for our nation's seniors. In the U.S. House, Tim introduced the lockbox bill to prevent Social Security dollars from being diverted to other government spending. Tim believes we need to keep the promises made by Social Security and also allow younger workers the option to save their own money in their own name in their own account. The Democrats, who have raided Social Security with trillions in new spending, have purposefully twisted his position in the past to scare seniors, and they should be ashamed. The people of the United States deserve more: more freedom with their hard earned money, more say in the spending of their tax dollars, and more opportunities to prosper.
