Issue Position: Revenue Sharing

Issue Position

Oakland County is going to be hit very hard over the next several years with the elimination of state revenue sharing. When times were good, the state used to share some of the tax revenue with the local municipalities, including Oakland County. Now that Lansing has spent through the last $1.7 Billion tax hike and are out of money again they are cutting these shared funds to use the money to shore up holes in the state current budget. This is a disaster for local government. These dollars used to help provide vital services, like firefighters and policemen, and now are being spent elsewhere around the state. I will lobby our representatives in Lansing to bring these dollars back home to us.
