I believe that every student deserves the highest quality education in the world. The key to ensuring this occurs in the 14th District, is returning the decision-making power to the state and local level. The resources of the federal government are stretched thin, given the size, making it difficult for legislators to keep an ear open to the specific issues affecting Detroit, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Harper Woods, Pontiac, West Boomfield, Southfield, and elsewhere in the 14th District. Improving education is the first step in maintaining economic competitiveness around the globe. My goal is to reduce burdensome regulatory hurdles at the federal level to allow state and local governments, and most importantly parents, the opportunity to craft education plans that best suit the needs of their children and the community.

As your Congressman I will interact regularly with the Michigan Department of Education and school officials in the 14th District to be a more knowledgeable advocate on education policy in Washington.
