Congressman Francisco "Quico" Canseco (TX-23), a strong supporter of repealing President Obama's health care law, released the following statement after his tour and visit with the company leadership at San Antonio-based medical device manufacturer EO2 Concepts:

"On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to meet with the leadership team and employees of EO2 Concepts, a medical device manufacturer located in the 23rd District of Texas. I enjoyed the opportunity to tour their facility and learn more about their revolutionary medical technology being developed right here in San Antonio that will help lower health care costs for Americans. EO2 Concepts provides highly skilled jobs in the San Antonio community, and is helping to preserve the United States' leadership in medical technology innovation."

"Unfortunately, both the jobs and innovation at EO2 Concepts are being threatened by the federal government. One of the provisions of Obamacare is an ill-advised medical device tax, which one study has estimated could result in the loss of 43,000 American jobs. In addition to the lost American jobs, the medical device tax would also chill the innovation taking place at medical device companies as their cost of doing business increases, which will in turn translate into higher costs for Americans. I'm proud to have cosponsored and supported the Health Care Cost Reduction Act (H.R. 436), which recently passed the House of Representatives, and would repeal this unwise tax on medical devices that threatens good-paying American jobs and our leadership in medical technology innovation."
