Hagan Statement on Paycheck Fairness Vote in the Senate

U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan today made the following statement after the Senate voted down the Paycheck Fairness Act. Hagan is an original co-sponsor of the legislation.

"I'm disappointed that the Senate voted against helping women in North Carolina receive equal pay for equal work," Hagan said. "Women are an integral part of our workforce and our economy, yet they continue to earn less than their male counterparts for doing the same jobs. I voted for this legislation because it will help close the wage gap and make our state stronger, and I hope we can come together in a bipartisan manner to address this issue in the near future."
