Chuck Fleischmann Comments on Weak May Jobs Report

Statement

Date: June 1, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann issued the following statement after receiving the May jobs report. The report stated that only 69,000 jobs were added for the month of May, and that unemployment had increased to 8.2%.

"The poor jobs report underscores the continued failure of President Obama's economic policies. While businesses struggle to make ends meet and unemployed Americans struggle to find jobs, the President continues his unrelenting regulatory war against our prosperity and talks about tax increases that will do virtually nothing to close our deficit. I have introduced a seven point jobs plan, and we have passed 27 jobs bills in the House of Representatives, only to see them die in the Democrat controlled Senate," Fleischmann said.

"With millions of students entering the workforce for the first time this month, the need to create jobs is especially urgent. I hope that the President and Senate will put partisan bickering and tax increases off to the side, and work with us on job creation solutions like reducing the tax and regulatory burden, exploring our energy resources, and approving the Keystone XL pipeline."
