Sutton Statement on Memorial Day

Statement

Date: May 25, 2012
Issues: Veterans

Today, Congresswoman Betty Sutton (OH-13) released the following statement on Memorial Day, in honor of American servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms:

"Every year we come together to honor those who have fallen in defense of freedom and to remember those who were left behind. We must take this occasion to remember that the most appropriate way to honor those we have lost is by supporting those who still serve. We must work just as hard for our veterans as they did for us; in creating jobs, providing health care, and giving them a chance at the American Dream they fought so valiantly for."

A champion for Ohio veterans, Congresswoman Sutton has fought to improve veterans care as a Member of Congress. The daughter of a WWII veteran, Sutton co-sponsored the 21st Century G.I. Bill that provides new benefits to America's veterans, and currently sits on the House Armed Services Committee.
