Scalise Blasts HHS for $20M Obamacare Advertising Contract

Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement regarding the Obama Administration's announcement that it had awarded a $20 million advertising contract to the PR firm Porter Novelli to promote Obamacare.

"It's inexcusable that President Obama is wasting $20 million of taxpayer money to fund a PR campaign on Obamacare just weeks before the Supreme Court could rule on the constitutionality of the President's health care law, and five months before his next election," Scalise said. "Spending $20 million promoting a law which continues to undergo Supreme Court scrutiny is another striking example of the Obama Administration's willingness to waste taxpayer money promoting the President's failed policies. Since being elected, President Obama has piled more than $5 trillion in debt onto the backs of American families and future generations, and this election year propaganda funded by hard-working taxpayers is a classic example of wasteful Washington spending that must be stopped.

"The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office recently predicted that millions more Americans will lose their health care coverage as a result of Obamacare, and also updated the cost of President Obama's health care law from $940 billion to $1.76 trillion. It's long past time to reign in wasteful Washington spending in order to reduce our debt and get our country and economy back on the track, and I'm calling on President Obama to reject this taxpayer-funded PR campaign."
