Blog: This Week in Washington

Statement

Date: May 8, 2012

This week the House begins appropriations season, with the Commerce, Science and Justice Appropriations bill coming to the floor. The House has adopted an open amendment procedure for appropriations bills, as it did last year, meaning there could be hundreds of amendments introduced to the legislation.

Also on the floor will be the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act (HR 4133), introduced by Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA). The House will also vote on Congressman Gary Miller's (R-CA) Securing American Jobs Through Exports Act (HR 2072), which reforms and reauthorizes the Export-Import Bank.

Finally, the House will vote to keep our military strong, keep our promises to our veterans and protect key programs like Head Start and the Border Patrol with the Sequester Replacement Act (HR 4966) by Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI).
