On Monday, April 30th, U.S. Congressman Robert J. Dold (IL-10) visited with seniors at the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center and spoke about his efforts to preserve and protect Medicare.

"You have worked all of your lives with the promise of receiving Medicare and Social Security," said Dold. "That is why I am fighting to protect and preserve your benefits and strengthen the program for future generations. Those 55 and older should see no changes to the benefits they have paid into all their lives."

Protecting and preserving Medicare and Social Security for seniors is a top priority for Rep. Dold. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, Medicare funds will be exhausted by 2020 unless Congress acts to protect and preserve Medicare. Dold is committed to reaching across the aisle and working on a bipartisan solution to ensure that those 55 and older will see no changes.

Dold has also voted to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which was included in the Affordable Care Act, because he believes that no one should come between a patient and their doctor. The IPAB empowers 15 unelected bureaucrats to make health care funding decisions, ultimately impairing a health care provider's ability to prescribe the best plan of action for each patient. The IPAB has the authority to decide on Medicare cuts without the consent of Congress.
