Issue Position: Stop Illegal Immigration

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012
Issues: Immigration

The Department of Homeland Security estimates that 10.8 million unauthorized aliens currently reside in the United States. Bob Dutton knows this has been a tremendous burden on taxpayers and that we must control our nation's borders. High unemployment here makes the situation worse as competition for jobs increases.

The U.S. government must first and foremost protect our borders as the starting point for any discussion of immigration reform. The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) need the funding and resources to do their jobs effectively.

Bob Dutton voted to repeal driver licenses for illegal immigrants, co-authored legislation helping correctional officers more easily identify illegal immigrants serving prison time and he'll vote against any attempt in Congress to give amnesty to those that violate our federal laws.
