Heck Responds to Nevada Jobs Report for March

Statement

Date: April 20, 2012
Location: Las Vegas, NV

Congressman Joe Heck (R-NV-03) today released the following statement after Nevada's unemployment numbers were announced this morning.

"When you have led the nation in unemployment rate as long as Nevada has, it is always encouraging to see those numbers decline. While there are positive signs in this report, we do not want to fall into the trap of considering a 12% unemployment rate a win. There is still much that can be done to get Nevadans back to work and to help our struggling families and businesses. With gas prices set to rise even higher this summer and Washington's tax and regulatory burden stifling business expansion, we must realize our job to improve the economy is far from done. I remain committed to working with my colleagues to enact common sense policies that will help reduce gas prices, connect unemployed workers with training for in-demand jobs, and give private sector employers the certainty they need to get more Nevadans back to work."
