Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after the House passed a series of cybersecurity bills, including the Cybersecurity Information Sharing and Protection Act (H.R. 3523):

"It is essential that we act to protect ourselves from cyber threats. Our country faces an unprecedented number of attacks from hackers and foreign nations. These cybersecurity bills will help defend against these attacks while at the same time ensuring that our personal privacy rights remain protected."

The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, which was passed by the House on Thursday, would help protect American job creators by encouraging private companies and U.S. intelligence agencies to share more information with each other about cybersecurity threats while including important provisions to protect individuals' privacy rights. Also on Thursday, the House passed the Federal Information Security Amendments Act (H.R. 4257), which would improve the federal government's information technology security systems.

Today, the House passed the Cybersecurity Enhancement Act (H.R. 2096) and the Advancing America's Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Act (H.R. 3834). These bills would improve research and development efforts related to combating cyber attacks targeting federal agencies.

All four bills passed with bipartisan support.
