Issue Position HELPING SILICON VALLEY FLOURISH | Employment-Based Visas

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

The presence of highly-skilled foreign-born workers whose abilities complement those of native-born workers creates job growth and new employment opportunities for American workers. In order to continue to help Silicon Valley flourish, Mike supports opportunities for employment-based H1-B visa holders to remain in the U.S. by supporting a pathway to residency for them. The international competitiveness of the U.S. depends on the contributions of highly-skilled professionals and workers from abroad for many decades to come. Mike is also a proud co-sponsor of the Immigration Driving Entrepreneurship in America (IDEA) Act of 2011, which would allow employers to obtain green cards for highly-skilled, foreign-born, American-educated workers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and would create a pathway to permanent residency.
