U.S. Representative Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) participated in the tenth annual Financial Literacy Day Fair on Capitol Hill, continuing his efforts in support of financial literacy for all. Congressman Hinojosa, along with Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-HI), Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) and U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert (R-IL), joined forces with Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, Junior Achievement USA, and the Council for Economic Education to put on the event featuring more than 55 organizations which offer a broad range of important information on financial literacy.

"Today is Tax Day; there is no better day to for families to consider the importance of saving and financial planning," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. "Today's event showcases the wealth of financial literacy resources our residents and local organizations have available to them. Financial Literacy Month is about empowering Americans to take control of their fiscal futures, whether that means avoiding payday lenders, opening a first savings account, or planning for retirement. We can all take steps to ensure more stable financial lives for our families, starting with the resources available from these organizations."

U.S. Representatives Hinojosa and Biggert are co-founders and co-chairs of the House Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus. The Financial Literacy Fair Day annually celebrates Financial Literacy Month in April and aims to increase awareness among Members of Congress, their staff, and their constituents about the many financial literacy programs and initiatives across the country.
