Issue Position

While I support the current health care plan passed by Congress- I believe we need to do more to keep the insurance industry from holding the middle class and working families hostage with unfair rates and limits on care.

The current law has very worthwhile provisions such as covering those with pre-existing conditions, providing coverage to young people and reducing cost. But I would suggest we go further to get real reform that works. We have to pursue a system that gives all Americans a real choice and gets control back to the people and away from insurance and HMO bureaucrats.

In fact, I worked with other mayors across America to craft a comprehensive health care plan that gets results for middle class families and seniors with less bureaucracy and more coverage.
