Press Release

Date: April 10, 2012
Location: Tupelo, MS

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) on Monday toured Toyota's Blue Springs facility. Corolla sedans are manufactured at this plant, with the first one rolling off the assembly line last fall.

"I was impressed with the superior quality of production and safety standards for the workforce at this state-of-the-art facility," said Wicker. "These high-quality jobs represent additional economic opportunities throughout the region, and Congress must maintain a jobs-friendly climate to draw more job-creating companies like Toyota to the state."

David Copenhaver, vice president of administration at Toyota's Mississippi plant, said, "Senator Wicker has been a continued supporter of our project, and I appreciate the opportunity to show him the impact his support has contributed to our success and local job creation."

At full production, which is anticipated later this year, the plant will make 600 vehicles a day, with an annual capacity of 150,000. There are currently 2,000 employees at the Blue Springs plant, with an additional 1,700 employees at 8 suppliers throughout North Mississippi.
