Issue Position: Strong Military Defense

Having a strong military defense is critical to our national sovereignty. I currently have 5 nephews serving in the military. However, we cannot continue to engage in unconstitutional wars (undeclared by Congress) and police actions and spread our military so thin. We spend unnecessary tax-dollars with our interventionist foreign policy, weakening our defense. If there are legitimate reasons for war, Congress should declare war and get the job done. We should not be nation-building, or policing. We will do more for Hill Air Force Base by closing unneeded bases outside of the United States, bringing those service men and women back to America, specifically Utah. The tax-dollars would then be spent in our economy, rather than diluting our nations wealth by supporting the economies of other nations. We currently have approximately 500 bases outside of the United States. Many can be closed without affecting our national security. We should be patrolling our own borders rather than the borders of another nation.
