The National Debt is a straw issue offered by Republicans and Blue Dogs in order to justify a collapse of government systems. Deficit spending saved our bacon following the Great Depression and through WWII. We can afford to buy now and pay later with cheaper, inflated dollars. We'll bring down the debt over many years as we have in the past, but it isn't a current emergency.
