Jaime Herrera Beutler's Bipartisan Jobs Bill Approved by House Small Business Committee

Press Release

Date: March 7, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Earlier today, the House Small Business Committee passed Jaime Herrera Beutler's bipartisan Small Business Opportunity Act of 2012. The passage marks the first bill Jaime has sponsored and successfully steered through the committee process. The next step for this bill would be consideration by the entire U.S. House of Representatives.

The Small Business Opportunity Act of 2012 would improve services within the Small Business Administration (SBA), expanding opportunities for more than 900 Southwest Washington small businesses to compete for federal contracts. Jaime introduced the bill in February, along with cosponsor Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-OR).

"I'm grateful to see the bipartisan support for this jobs bill continue to grow," said Jaime. "Southwest Washington small businesses are the number one source of new jobs. They also embody the spirit of hard work and entrepreneurialism that will lead our economic recovery. This bill represents one more way that Congress can maximize the opportunities for America's small businesses. Getting folks back to work has to remain our priority."
