Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today released the following statement on the news of Congressman Donald Payne's death:

"I am very saddened by the news of Congressman Donald Payne's passing. Donald Payne was a good friend. He was passionate about helping the poor and addressing injustice around the world, and I am honored to have worked so closely with him during my time in Congress. The loss of my friend will be felt not only in Congress and his home state of New Jersey, but in the communities he sought to represent from afar."
