I enjoyed the privilege of teaching English in one of our Community Colleges, and my wife worked as a high school teacher. My grandmother was a career educator, as was my uncle. My daughter is a student in the Old Town public school system. Investing in K-12 and higher education is the key to improving our economy. With an educated, prepared workforce, we will grow business here in Maine, attract businesses to come here, and by preparing them, give our neighbors and our children the resources and opportunity to stay in Maine. We can do much to provide support and resources at the Federal level, and leave curriculum and school program development to state governments and local school boards. As Maine's United States Senator, I will work tirelessly to make sure that Maine teachers, students, and schools are the best-supported in the world.
