Issue Position: Taxes

At one time the entire United States tax code could be held on one small shelf; now it fills more than two bookcases.

This illustrates how cumbersome and invasive our tax codes have become -- despite so-called reforms in recent decades.

It's time for true tax reform. Overhaul and simplify the system now!

There has been a great deal of discussion about Fair Tax, Flat Tax and Energy Tax. Each one has downsides -- from not producing enough federal revenue to balance the budget, to thwarting economic vitality in the free marketplace.

I support simplified tax-code measures that incorporate the positives of these proposed reforms, allowing us to consider the merits of each option.

In addition, I adamantly oppose any increase in our tax burden.
