Texas is on the front lines of a war. Our border has become a crossing point for drug smugglers, terrorists and human trafficking. Illegal immigration has become a problem that is straining our social system and programs. Our hospitals, schools and local government are paying the cost for the education and health care of illegal immigrants. The federal government has failed its responsibility for border security and stopping illegal immigration.
Securing the border must be one of our nation's top priorities. We must continue to welcome legal immigrants who follow our laws and respect our language, heritage and Constitution.
